I really should play the game again, knowing the tight time limit and how I should have focused my fire more, but I'm eager to continue the campaign and go to the bigger games. Most of the orks were wounded at the time, but only killed ones counted for points. I went in too agressive with the marines and the resulting close combat saw the death of a tactical squad and the sergeant. Then I realised the scenario was almost over and the marines had killed just 1 ork team with their shooting. I wasted time with the marines, setting them up. It was very short game (well, it is an introductory scenario) and I didn't actually appreciate just how short it was. I actually played the first game of the campaign. Well, now I rectified it and will move to play the campaign proper. I don't know why I didn't play the Drop Zone scenario when I got the gazette. Yeah, it felt through the game that the balance was changing from turn to turn.

In the final turn an ork slugga boyz charged the depleted HB team, but failed the assault. Meanwhile the HB team moved in on the center board, Now both sides were controlling 1 space of the objective. The heroic UM sergeant held off against 2 orks and the ork Nob for two turns and then he killed the Nob. The orks were holding the center again with only the UM sergeant and reduced UM heavy bolter left of the opposition. The Nob killed the UM Hero and then in following turn charged the meltagun team, killing it. Then the orks regrouped and the Nob charged in (he was in the backfield during the first half of the game because of the 2 command stars he was worth). The marines seemed to be in a very good position, despite losing the tactical team. Then the UM hero charged in and took even more orks off (shooting his bolt pistol at one ork, killing it and re-directing his charge to another ork, reducing it and driving it away. The ork center was weakened from that and the meltagunner reduced the ork strenth even more with shooting. That stopped when a wounded Tactical squad dropped a grenade on their feet (I was gambling that their armour would hold – I even had an armour save card in my hand).ģ ork units were wounded/killed but the brave marines were killed too in the blast. Then after few turns the ork steamroller got in and the greenskins took control of the centre. The UM hero was very effective during the first half of the game, shooting and charging around. It was very close fought affair where the would-be winner seemed to change from turn to turn. I finally tried playing the Drop Zone #1 scenario.
